Introduction

The Maunamars DTYS Competition is a service that is offered to Jamaican children ages 12 to 14, as an opportunity for them to shine and see the value of their talent. The competition is not limited to only children who possess strong technical art skills but it also open to those with basic skills. The judging criteria is designed to fairly accommodate young artists whose capacity surrounds either basic and technical skill sets.

Competition Details

Competition Format

The Maunamars DTYS Competition has two rounds. In the first round the competition participants art will be posted in the Maunamars instagram stories. Ten favorited entries will be redrawn by Maunamars and posted to the instagram feed. Owners of favorited pieces will be tagged in each post. Twenty-five participants with the highest scores will be selected for round two. The others will receive digital certificates. In round two the selected participants will be invited to do a redraw of an original Maunamars character in their style. Then three winners will be selected for cash prizes.

Prizes

A total Prize Pool of JMD $40,000 available for distribution to winners in various categories, ensuring a competitive and exciting event for all participants.

  • 1st Place: JMD $18,000
  • 2nd Place: JMD $13,000
  • 3rd Place: JMD $9,000

Competition Rules and Requirements

All participants are expected to operate within the boundaries of the competition rules and requirements. All artwork submitted for entry must be the original of the participant. No stolen, AI or traced artwork. Failure to do so will result in disqualification and rejection of an entry.

Age Requirement

Open to participants ages 12 to 14 only.

Theme

Participants are expected to create an original character based on the theme “Space Alien from Mars”. No background is required, just the character and the outfit.

Entry Fee

The Maunamars DTYS is a paid art competition. An entry fee of JMD$2000 must be made after submitting the entry form. Entry fees will fund cash prizes, redrawing selected participants art, digital certificates and any other surprises, promotion of the participants art, administration services and planning.

Submission Window

Administration will begin accepting entries in September 2025.

How to submit?

Step 1: Complete and submit the registration or entry form.

Step 2: Pay the entry fee

Step 3: Send your artwork and a screenshot of the payment or a receipt to WhatsApp (876) 374-9868.

Step 4: Once the payment receipt is sent, an identification code will be assigned to you. Next you can proceed follow the social media requirements.

Social Media Requirement

All participants are required to:

  • Follow @maunamars and @crayoni.ac (If under 13, a parent/guardian should follow on your behalf)
  • Post clear, high-quality photos of your artwork to your IG feed and caption the entry with your Identification code.
  • Use hashtags #maunamarsdtys and #maunamarsdtyscompetition
  • Tag @maunamars and @crayoni.ac in the post

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the required size for the design?

Students may use sizes within the range  8 x 10 to 9 x 12 inches or any size of that range that they are comfortable with.

They should take well-lit clear pictures or scan their artwork in color (if colored).

If an interested participant is currently age 14, but will be 15 in a couple months, can he/she still enter?

Yes. Once the participant matches the age requirement on the day of submission or before the deadline, he/she may still be allowed to participate.

How are the entry pieces to be submitted and what information should be submitted along with them?

s may submit the name of their piece or a personal statement along with it if they wish. In addition to that the entry form solicits the necessary information required of participants.

Please note that once the payment receipt is sent, an identification code will be assigned to the participant. Next he/she may proceed to follow the social media requirements. 

While WhatsApp is the preferred method of submission if its not possible, they may opt to submit via email at [email protected].

Where or how should the entry fee be paid?

Participants are expected to pay via bank transfer to the account. The account information is disclosed in the confirmation message delivered after submitting the digital entry form.
