Our art captures moments, moods, memories or milestones and more.

It’s like a souvenir from that special moment where that special thing happened allowing you to keep your best memories alive in a world where situations arise that may make us forget.

Meet the Artist

While my spacename is Maunamars, Mauna-Shay Marshall is my earthname. I’m from Jamaica. I speak English and Patois but I’m working really hard to learn chinese.

I was always drawing and writing growing up. I wrote a lot of poetry, I drew a lot of fashion designs and food, which is funny because I don’t eat much. But anyways, I was always drawing girls but sadly my drawings from that time are either burnt or destroyed so I don’t have much from my past to show.

I wrote a lot of unfinished stories in my notebooks, once I even tried to write a self-help book because I love psychology and understanding people. I love growth. I love the development of characters.

I think people are beautiful or that there’s always something beautiful about someone and sometimes I find myself staring because I tend to deliberately look for the good in others.

And Now I am drawing peoples’ faces. I love a good face and I still love to write which is why I got me a blog so I can share my learning experiences with the world. So all the curious cats and the rigorous readers I got space on the spaceship for you, just press that go button and let’s take off in to my world.

My Favorite Sketches from my Sketchbook

Innocent Indian Girl

I came across a photo of a beautiful Indian girl online, and immediately I was drawn to her innocence. I had to capture it.

Feminine Warrior

I love her determined gaze. She carries this air of both femininity and strength, a spirit of a warrior.

Zendaya-Undiluted Emotion

Once I found a photo of Zendaya from a movie scene, tired-sick, and I was too. I felt nothing. This is it, undiluted emotion.

My Friend’s Mom

I did this one for mother’s day. I wanted to thank her for bringing him into this world. Many times he has been a blessing to me. It was my first charcoal drawing.

How Did It Start?

I remember praying for my first job before I even got it, I knew in my spirit where I would work. I told it to my friend, and as it was said, so it was. I had applied for the Clerical Assistant post, but during the interview, when they saw my sketchbook, I was immediately offered a part-time Visual Arts teaching role as well. In that moment, I felt wonderful-I remember calling my mom while on my way home the good news. Finally, I could earn so I could start my dream business.

In high school I failed Visual Arts, hence while I was teaching I retook the exam only to receive an ungraded result. I was militant until I was calm. The matter was queried, and after a long wait, CXC corrected their error. Finally I was awarded the distinction I worked so hard for.

One year later, on my birthday, my coworkers held a surprised me with cake and sparkling wine. Overwhelmed with gratitude, I secretly made portrait keychains to thank them all. Their reactions were everything-they were overjoyed, they showed it off, they took pictures. God bless their hearts. Seeing how my art made them feel I was encouraged. I took the leap and started my business.

Portrait Keychains

Its a beautiful idea born from celebration and gratitude. It’s a small traditional drawing in the form of a keychain-made of durable materials, a unique handmade ornament that makes an interesting personalized gift.
