Stationery and hands journaling surrounded by a title that says 5 easy steps to set goals

Hello Earthlings! Welcome to my planet site!!! If you are here, it means you’re ready to set goals that feels easy and achievable. I challenge you to set your goals today and follow through with them until the end of the month.

This challenge invites you to grow with me and make personal development fun and interactive. I was inspired to challenge you. Recently, a little turmoil reminded me of the reasons I first wanted to start a blog.

I always want to grow, but I’m talking about intentional growing. That means growing on purpose.

Become intentional, set goals. Decide what you want and take intentional steps towards achieving it. That’s living on purpose – not just letting life to pass you by or roll right over you. So let challenges begin! Read ahead and find out how to set goals in five 5 easy steps for your personal development.

Determine your long-term goals

Challenge #1

List your goals and identify one reason why it matters to you or the consequence of not achieving it. This will be a positive reminder to keep going.

I’ve always been interested in becoming more intentional about my personal development. However, since the last few days my interest has heightened. Especially after recently rediscovering my original reasons for wanting to become a blogger.

Here are some examples of set goals I’m currently working on.

Examples:

  1. Learn a language (now I want to learn Chinese)
  2. Become more organized / maintain organization
  3. Develop my art skills
  4. Build a closer relationship with God
  5. Read and apply a self help book.
  6. Develop an exercising habit.

Break up your goals

Challenge #2

One easy way make goals feel achievable is to break them down into smaller, manageable activities. In other words ask yourself what are some practical things I can do everyday or every other day that will bring me closer to my goals.

Then make a list of those activities based on each goal you listed. Here’s an example from my life.

Example:

My long-term goal is to become fluent in Chinese. A practical activity I can do each day without overwhelming myself is to practice 15 minutes for 5 days each week.

Identify your goals for the month

Challenge #3

Turn your long-term goals into monthly goals. Now that you’ve figured out what you can do daily to achieve your goals, use that small task as a tool. This will help you to determine how much you can achieve within a month. It will also help you measure your progress over a short period of time and motivate you to be consistent. Now go ahead and list your goals for the month, nice and easy.

Make a schedule

Challenge #4

Everyone has some important tasks they must cover daily. Now that I’ve mentioned it, you’re probably thinking of some of yours already. Maybe it’s dropping off the kid’s to school, packing their lunch, finishing homework, studying etc.

Now think about how you spend your time outside of those tasks. Once you’ve done that separation you’re almost ready for the next step. But first you must replace the tasks that don’t align with your goals with your new list of activities that aligns with them.

With that said you’re ready to make your weekly schedule that includes those daily activities that supports your goals.

Track your progress

Challenge #5

When you complete the activities that support your goals for the day, use the tracker record your efforts. Shade in the slots on the tracker to help you keep track of your progress and stay motivated. Color based on the percentage of the goal aligned tasks you’ve covered.

The color code is outlined below.

75 to 100% → shade green

50 to 74 % → shade yellow

1–49% → shade gray

At the end of each week, post your color-coded tracker in your stories and tag me. Then finally come back and tell us in the comment section below how is your progress.

What have we learnt?

Well, if you haven’t realized it yet, you will soon. The benefits of these activities will suddenly make you become more aware of yourself. More aware of what you want and don’t want. What you truly enjoy and what you don’t.

And while there will be turmoil, hurt, or ups and downs – it will be worth it. Because it’s always worth investing in you’re satisfied with going through your life not realizing who you are, or the value you have to offer.

Got something to say? Well, take me on in the comments. Or better yet, beat me at the challenge.
